Carmen Corbasson Community Centre

Carmen Corbasson Community Centre, formerly Cawthra Arena, was built in 1972. The thriving community needed additional space. As a result, Salas O’Brien partnered with Diamond Schmitt Architects for an addition to the existing 90,000-square-foot community center in the City of Mississauga.

Salas O’Brien provided mechanical, electrical, technology, sustainable design, and energy modelling services for this facility. The community centre’s amenities include a climate-controlled indoor walking track, a full-size gymnasium, an active living studio, two indoor ice surfaces, and a 25-metre lane pool.

The project includes renovating and building a new addition that will improve the quality of recreation services, implementing higher accessibility and green building standards to improve energy efficiency and savings, and reducing the City’s carbon footprint.
