Battery Recycling Facility
Salas O’Brien partnered with a leading battery recycler to deliver Front-End Engineering and Design for a greenfield battery recycling facility. We provided process engineering and design for feedstock preparation, raw material handling, product purification, product drying, and product storage systems. We collaborated closely with four major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to fully integrate their proprietary equipment. We also worked with equipment vendors to select specific technology for non-OEM systems. Our engineers designed site utility systems, including boilers, chilled water, and compressed air. We developed a comprehensive site strategy for water collection and treatment. Additionally, we provided design and engineering for the balance of plant, encompassing structural steel, warehouse and HVAC design, power and controls, and fire protection. We reduced capital costs and project risk through value engineering. This involved layout optimization, proposing alternate construction materials, and process optimization. We conducted a Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) to enhance safety and efficiency.
