Auto Parts Coating Line Upgrade

Salas O’Brien provided engineering and design services to upgrade an international chemical manufacturer’s auto parts coating line to reduce part damage. Our engineers designed electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical drawings to upgrade the coater outfeed area, the calciner
infeed area, and the calciner packout area to improve their functionality. We created electrical and mechanical scopes of work to facilitate the efficient removal of old equipment, the installation of new equipment, and the modification of the existing unloader conveyor.

Our team developed, tested, and commissioned the advanced programming required for two new robot cells and one new conveyor system. We also updated the control programming and replaced the existing Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) with a new servo drive. The upgrades delivered by our experts significantly improved the line’s material handling performance, resulting in a reduction of the high product reject rate previously experienced by the client.
