Case Study

San Jose Evergreen Community College District

San Jose City College

Campus Wide Physical Security Project

San Jose City College is one of multiple career and technical training institutions that make up the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District in central California. The College offers certificates and Associate’s degrees to students that are preparing for entry into the workforce or transfer to a university, and its many dedicated educators work hard to ensure students’ success.

When the college discovered a need to update the physical security systems on campus, they started looking for a trustworthy engineering firm that could ensure the systems’ reliability and efficiency. Salas O’Brien was the perfect fit. Our experienced team coordinated with the campus security consultant, Catalyst, and integrated their design into our bid package.

Our work on the project included complete design infrastructure and recommended routing for physical security on the campus, including power and data for security cameras, blue-light emergency phones, and the campus-wide area emergency broadcast system (WEBS). The infrastructure design also covered distribution frames and wireless access point placement along with recommended pathways for intrusion alarms in each building.

The Salas O’Brien team was an integral part of the process from coordination and Division of the State Architecture (DSA) approval through bidding, construction, and project close out. Our expertise helped ensure the project’s success and San Jose City College students’ ongoing safety.
