Case Study

Poway Unified School Districts

Photovoltaic System Design and Installation

The photovoltaic (PV) installation project Salas O’Brien completed for Poway Unified School District was part of a larger county initiative set to decrease energy consumption and increase energy production efficiency. Salas O’Brien played a crucial role in supporting the school district’s commitment to put their dollars to work investing in mission-focused resources rather than in rising energy costs.

Our team brought years of experience to the project, allowing us to understand the big picture. Salas O’Brien provided professional engineering oversight, electrical design, Division of the State Architect coordination and support, structural analysis, and construction administration for this project.

The completed plant generates one million kWh of clean energy each year and has an expected lifespan of 20 years. It services 20 buildings across four different school campuses in northern San Diego County, increasing efficiency and lowering costs. The project was completed in six months and earned a nomination for the San Diego Excellence in Energy Awards.
