Case Study

Plumrose USA

Meat Slicing Plant

Founded in 1932 as a sliced ham company, Plumrose USA has grown into one of the countrys leading providers of quality packaged meat products. The company now supplies premium bacon, packaged deli meat, canned and deli ham, ribs, and specialty BBQ to retail and foodservice providers throughout the United States, and their commitment to quality and value has steadily grown their customer base.

When an increase in demand necessitated the expansion of Plumroses production in Council Bluffs, Iowa, leadership decided it was the perfect opportunity to build an upgraded facility with safety, sustainability, and responsibility in mind. Salas O’Brien’s reputation for providing ingenious, sustainable solutions as well as its background in industrial design made the firm the perfect choice to meet Plumroses ambitious sustainability goals.

Our team provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the project, and the completed facility met Plumroses goals and increased production capacity by 25 percent. The finished project also earned a LEED Silver status and the 2013 Sustainable Plant of the Year title from Food Engineering.
