Emergency Room Chest Pain Unit Renovation

Located in Gainesville, Florida, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center serves as a tertiary care medical center and active teaching hospital offering an extensive array of specialty services. Using state-of-the-art technology, the hospital’s experienced staff provide not only excellent patient care, but also learning opportunities for up-and-coming medical professionals.

Salas O’Brien provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering for a renovation to include a new chest pain observation and testing area in the hospital’s Emergency Room Chest Pain Unit. The design included changes to the existing mechanical ductwork and VAV system, the addition of an isolation room exhaust system, and extensions of the existing medical gas, fire alarm, nurse call, and intercom systems—as well as normal and emergency power systems design.
