Case Study

J Street Hospitality

Courtyard Marriott Gaslamp Hotel

Centered in downtown San Diego, J Street Hospitality offers real estate investment, development, and asset management services. The firm specializes in lifestyle hotel development, so they were the perfect partner for the Courtyard Marriott brand’s 90-room hotel construction in historic San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.

Built to match the needs of the modern business traveler, the Courtyard brand features modern, casual designs that facilitate both work and leisure. The new, 12-story hotel construction in San Diego reflects this ethos, and its convenient location makes it the perfect choice for busy corporate travelers. Among the hotels unique features are a rooftop deck with covered bar and one level of underground parking with a vehicle elevator.

In order to ensure the integrity of the new building’s engineering, J Street brought in Salas O’Brien to provide comprehensive commissioning services to the building’s HVAC equipment, lighting controls, and domestic hot water system. The HVAC commissioning included a central cooling plant with two chillers, a central heating plant with gas-fired boilers, and a water-source heat pump system for the guest rooms and common areas.
