At the center of the internship experience is our Learning Series, a mix of live, interactive sessions and on-demand courses through Impact Academy, Salas O’Brien’s internal learning platform. You’ll connect with leaders and subject matter experts from across the company, starting with orientation and a welcome from the CEO, and continuing through sessions built specifically for interns.

Topics include sustainability in the built environment, forensic engineering, MEP engineering, geothermal design, acoustical design engineering, process and manufacturing, and more. Whatever discipline you’re most curious about, chances are there’s a session for it, and you’re encouraged to ask questions directly to the experts leading them.

Systems and tools exposure

Every intern’s journey is different, and our program embraces that.

Depending on your discipline, team, and interests, you may have the opportunity to work with industry-standard tools, like Revit or AutoCAD for engineering, or other widely used platforms for marketing and business development, helping you build the technical skills needed to succeed in your field.

Build up soft skills

Technical know-how only gets you so far, which is why our program includes weekly 10-minute soft skills micro-sessions. These short, focused sessions cover topics like professional communication, reading non-verbal cues, managing feedback, and time management, through real-world scenarios designed to build your confidence in situations you’ll actually encounter.
