Salas O’Brien strengthens leadership and expands brand presence in Washington, DC
Abdullah Ayazi named principal-in-charge as Global Engineering Solutions becomes Salas O’Brien of Washington, DC.

Salas O’Brien is proud to announce Abdullah Ayazi’s promotion to principal-in-charge of our Washington, DC, office. Abdullah also serves as principal-in-charge of our Bethesda, MD, office and brings a deep commitment to client service, technical excellence, and team development. His leadership will continue to drive strong results across the region.
This transition comes as Global Engineering Solutions (GES) officially adopts the Salas O’Brien name, becoming Salas O’Brien of Washington, DC.
Founded in Washington, DC, GES has built a reputation for delivering high-impact solutions in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering (MEP & FP), as well as program and construction management. The team serves clients across healthcare, science and technology, education, and commercial sectors, with a particular focus on net zero energy design, notably in K-12 education.
As Salas O’Brien of Washington, DC, the team continues to lead transformative projects, including:
- Hart Middle School Modernization: A key project in the DC school system’s capital improvement plan, this renovation is designed to net zero standards, targeting LEED Gold and a sub-22 Energy Use Intensity (EUI).
- WMATA Headquarters Consolidation: Serving as program manager, the team led a $1 billion consolidation effort to reduce operational costs and improve employee conditions for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
- NIH Site Assessments: Providing strategic assessments for multiple National Institutes of Health locations to help optimize operations, advance sustainability, and reduce long-term costs.
This evolution enhances Salas O’Brien’s presence in the Mid-Atlantic and reinforces the firm’s ability to deliver engineering excellence for clients with complex, mission-driven needs.
