Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital breaks ground to meet the needs of tomorrow
Salas O’Brien is proud to support the transformation of Canada’s largest hospital.

Salas O’Brien is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital. On June 25, Trillium Health Partners and Ontario Government representatives were among key stakeholders present at the milestone event. This redevelopment will triple the size of the existing hospital and position the city as a national hub for cutting-edge health care and economic growth.
Salas O’Brien is serving as Engineer of Record for various aspects of lateral analysis, building foundation design, and steel design for the two-story penthouse in this multi-billion-dollar project, which is being delivered through a P3 partnership between Infrastructure Ontario, the Ministry of Health, and Trillium Health Partners. Through this project, Salas O’Brien continues the firm’s long-standing partnership with leading Canadian construction services company EllisDon.
Once complete, the hospital will support a growing and diverse population of more than 1.7 million people. The project is also expected to create long-term economic value, attracting 2,400 new health care professionals and over 400 new doctors, and contributing more than $1 billion to Mississauga’s economy over the next decade.
Pre-construction activities are now underway, with substantial completion targeted for 2033.
