Reviving history with modern design

Once a busy meatpacking plant, the Neuhoff District fell into disrepair after decades of vacancy. Partnering with developer New City Properties, the City of Nashville, Tennessee, set out to preserve the site’s historic character while creating a thriving community with new offices, shops, restaurants, and residences.

Salas O’Brien provided comprehensive MEP and technology design services to bring that vision to life. The technology team designed integrated systems for security, connectivity, and infrastructure to link multiple buildings across the site.

Working within 100-year-old structures required creative thinking to upgrade drainage and power systems while maintaining the site’s architectural heritage. The team’s multifamily and mixed-use expertise helped coordinate complex MEP systems and develop innovative sewage and stormwater solutions.

Today, the Neuhoff District stands as a model for how historic spaces can evolve to meet the needs of a modern, connected Nashville.
