Nathan Kamphuis explores smarter data center energy strategies
Energy systems expert Nathan Kamphuis shares practical strategies for improving efficiency, managing grid challenges, and maximizing data center performance.
Salas O’Brien’s Nathan Kamphuis, PhD, advanced systems & commissioning lead, will speak at the 3rd Annual Data Center Design, Construction & Engineering Forum on June 15 at 3:30 p.m. PST, joining industry leaders focused on the future of data center infrastructure and operations.
Nathan’s session, Data Center Energy Effectiveness: An Adventure in Profit Maximization, will explore how energy effectiveness is becoming a critical business driver for data centers as operators balance growing power demands, grid constraints, and performance expectations. Drawing on experience across utility systems, power generation, and system optimization, he will share practical approaches that help teams improve efficiency while supporting long-term operational goals.
The presentation will also cover key load and grid challenges facing modern data centers and how thoughtful system design can help operators adapt to changing energy demands. Attendees will gain insight into strategies that improve reliability, support scalability, and create stronger business outcomes.
Nathan will also participate in the session titled, Scaling Power and Infrastructure Resilience for High-Density AI Workloads, where he’ll join presenters from Oracle, Lightning Master, and Armatherm to share perspectives on ARPA-E, COOLERCHIPS, advanced energy systems, and commissioning.
An environmentalist at heart, Nathan was drawn to the data center industry by the opportunity to help one of the world’s fastest-growing sectors reduce its impact on the environment. His work focuses on turning complex energy and infrastructure challenges into practical, business-focused solutions that improve performance, efficiency, and collaboration across teams.
