Megan Murphy-McLeod, senior designer at Salas O’Brien, is taking the stage at Live Design International (LDI) 2025 at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Monday, December 8 at 11:30 a.m. PST. The session, “A Celestial Collaboration,” brings audiences behind the scenes of one of the most ambitious lighting installations ever built: Celestial Park, the glowing entry land of Universal’s Epic Universe, which opened to the public in May 2025.

Epic Universe is the first new theme park to open in Orlando since the 1990s, and its goal was to put the ‘park’ back in theme park. Celestial Park pushed that vision even further, creating an immersive nightscape that USA Today called the “Glowing Heart of Epic Universe.”

In this session, Megan joins collaborators from 4Wall Entertainment and Universal Creative to unpack how thousands of lighting elements and years of teamwork brought Celestial Park to life after dark. From design vision to final glow, the team will share what it takes to build a nighttime experience on an unprecedented scale.

A lifelong theme park fan, Megan shared in a recent interview with LDI: “Since 2018, Celestial Park has been my baby. The lighting design for Epic Universe’s central land is a once-in-a-lifetime install that I was fortunate to work on with some of the coolest people on the planet.”
