Excited to learn and ready to grow: A Q&A with Connor Lodge
Connor Lodge reflects on his internship as an IT specialist; today, he’s part of our team full-time.

IT specialist intern Connor Lodge embraced every opportunity to learn, contribute, and excel during his internship. Now a full-time team member, this Kennesaw State University graduate works from Salas O’Brien’s Atlanta office, where his passion for IT security continues to push him forward.
How’s the company culture at Salas O’Brien?
I love the fact that we are encouraged to talk about ideas, even though some of them may not be implemented, or there might be a different way of doing those ideas, the fact you’re asked and you’re told to bring ideas to the table, it does make you feel like you are contributing to the growth of the company.
Why did you want a career in IT?
I’ve always been fascinated with technology.
There’s so much happening behind the scenes that most people never see, a lot of moving parts, and for many, IT and technology are difficult to comprehend.
There are many different sectors of IT. I love the security side and the opportunity it gives me to help and educate others. It’s a field that’s always changing, which means there is always something new to learn.
How was your Salas O’Brien internship experience?
It was amazing!
I learned so much, met incredible people, and will only continue to learn more as I work with the organization. I was been able to hone and refine skills that I already had, while gaining new ones. Each project and conversation feels like a chance to learn, and I’m excited to keep moving forward.
What made Salas O’Brien stand out when applying for an internship?
What stood out to me about Salas O’Brien was a combination of things.
Hearing the CEO Darin Anderson talk about becoming the most respected engineering and technical services firm in the galaxy immediately caught my attention. Not the world or the country, but the GALAXY. It’s such an ambitious vision, and I wanted to be part of it.
I was also drawn to how employee-driven the company was. Voices are not only heard here, they’re encouraged, and that level of respect and support for team members means the world.
What advice do you have for future Salas O’Brien interns?
Always make the best of every day. Show up ready to learn, ready to work, and willing to take on tasks. Be the first to raise your hand for challenges, even the ones no one else wants to do. Those moments will help you grow, set you apart, and show others that you are capable and that you deserve to be at Salas O’Brien.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love traveling and exploring. I’m also a big foodie and will try anything once. My take is simple: if you don’t like the food, no problem, you never have to eat it again, but you’ll always have the experience of trying it! I also can’t get enough of live music and concerts. They always have such amazing energy.
