Achieving efficiency and innovation through integrated sustainable design

Salas O’Brien provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design services for the Citadel’s largest project to date: the new Capers Hall, a modern replacement for the original 1950s-era building. The upgraded facility includes 39 classrooms, a 250-seat auditorium, an art gallery, a mock courtroom, conference rooms, student relaxation areas, and new faculty offices. The auditorium offers premium acoustics, a wooden stage with curtains, and adjustable LED lighting.

Integrated solutions advance healthcare for local residents

Salas O’Brien is providing comprehensive engineering design services for the Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital expansion. The project adds 200,000 square feet to the existing 116,000-square-foot hospital and includes a new 90,000-square-foot medical office building to serve Berkeley County’s growing population. The hospital gains 50 inpatient beds, 21 more emergency department treatment rooms, and space for MRI, CT, and interventional radiology.

Lind Point Virgin Island National Park Resource Management and Science Facility

Engineering hurricane-ready facilities for lasting impact

In 2017, hurricanes severely damaged facilities in the Virgin Islands National Park. In response, the National Park Service advanced its mission to protect the territory’s cultural and natural resources by opening the Resource Management and Science Facility and Housing. We provided comprehensive engineering design services for a 6,000-square-foot artifacts storage and office facility and 6,000 square feet of residential housing. Our team designed the new buildings to withstand category 5 hurricane-force winds and incorporated sustainable design strategies.
