This client needed an engineering partner who could work closely with and assist the architect in designing a new 33-story, mixed-use apartment and retail building. The building needed to include sustainable features and updated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering system design.
Our team collaborated with this client’s architect and provided design assist mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services. We also coordinated vertical shafts, proper layouts, and overall engineering system design throughout the whole building. The new 33-story apartment building features 350 units ranging in size from studios to two-bedroom, as well as 20,500 square feet of retail space. Our team also assisted in designing sustainable features, including a green roof and garden, an energy-efficient window wall system, low-environmental impact materials and finishes, and high-efficiency HVAC throughout.
The finished hotel tower effectively met our client’s needs. Our team’s work resulted in a sustainable, LEED-certified, and modern hotel which fits right in on Chicago’s best high-rise development site, the Loop.
