Designing a Medical Office and Ambulatory Surgery Center
Our client hired us to provide a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection utility design to satisfy the technical and economical requirements of a singular structure incorporating both business and institutional occupancy groups.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) design included two operating rooms, a pre-op space, a post-anesthesia care unit, a soiled-item decontamination suite, a sterile processing center, a nurse station, and other common support spaces.
The medical office building infrastructure leveraged commercial, off-the-shelf equipment and gear. This approach satisfied code and budgetary requirements for the non-clinical setting. MEP systems for the building and the ASC included an air handling unit with dual filter beds, precision humidity control, space pressurization control with continuous monitoring and alarm functions, a full complement of medical gas, and emergency power systems anchored by a natural gas generator.
