Katy Independent School District
Taylor High School
Salas O’Brien provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for extensive renovations and an addition to Taylor High School—including the school’s pool and associated electrical elements.
Named for James Edgar Taylor—a World War II veteran and leader in Texas education—Taylor High School forms a vital part of the Katy Independent School District in southeast Texas. Katy is known for its high caliber academics, programs, and staff, as well as its highly involved community.
The district’s drive for excellence also extends to their facilities—so when their main high school needed updating, they turned to Salas O’Brien. This project involved a complete overhaul of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in the older areas of the high school as well as multiple renovations to the school’s pool.
The Salas O’Brien team provided engineering services covering the removal and replacement of all original conduits, wiring, electric panels, and equipment. Our work also included MEP for a 17,400-square-foot addition to the first and second floors of the facility. The pool renovation involved the installation of new wiring, devices, and pathways, new lighting in the main pool room and supporting areas, and the replacement of the natatorium ventilation system and overall HVAC.
This project aptly demonstrates Katy ISD’s commitment to safety and compliance, and with Salas O’Brien’s help, the upgrades resulted in the benefit of significantly increased energy efficiency.
