Bringing Robotic Technology, Automated Grocery Fulfillment to Ontario Customers

Sobeys teamed up with Ocado Technologies to develop plans for a new automated customer fulfillment center to serve an online grocery home delivery service.

Our team provided the structural design, which consists of 250,000 square feet of multi-level mezzanine structures that support the Ocado Smart Platforms (OSP) for robotic operations. The existing shell was not originally designed for the stringent lateral movement limits of OSP-supporting structures.

Our team designed independent structural and foundation systems for gravity and lateral forces with no connection to the base building structure to successfully implement the first application of this robotic technology in Canada.
