Their challenge

Sabey Data Centers’s 40-acre technology campus in Quincy, Washington, is designed for multiple colocation data centers. Buildings A and C were already fully occupied by data center tenants, and Sabey needed a trustworthy engineering company to provide architectural design, permitting, and construction observation for Building B—an approximately 123,000-square-foot enterprise data center with four 24,000-square-foot independent data halls.

Our solution

Salas O’Brien produced this project in REVIT with BIM coordination of consultants and models. The electrical system supports tier 3 N+1 redundancy providing 13.5MW of IT capacity. It is designed with 10 plug-and-play electrical containers in the exterior courtyards along with their associated backup generators. The mechanical systems utilize the latest generation of indirect evaporating cooling units for high efficiency operation. It is a steel structure with an insulated precast facade designed to critical importance and immediate occupancy. The entry and administration portion of the building is curtain wall with metal rainscreen.
