Strategically Equalizing Pressure Differentials to Control Flue Gas Desulfurization Dust

Our client’s open stockpile of gypsum allowed for wind to pass over, causing airborne dusting thoughout the local community. Because of the environmental concerns created by this, regulatory agencies mandated remediation. Its current process involved transporting via conveyor and a radial stacker system.

We designed a dust control system that uses enclosures and the DustTamer™ wind fence by Dust Solutions, Inc. (DSI). Our design also included concrete push walls that are strategically placed to protect the wind fence. All components work together to equalize pressure differentials, significantly reducing airborne particulates.

The finished wind fence alleviated the problem while requiring minimal maintenance. Our proactive design ensures streamlined future upgrades, and its success led the client to commission our team for future projects.
