Project highlights
Their challenge
With the recent relocation of Newell’s corporate headquarters from Atlanta to New Jersey, the company needed a smaller, more intimate space for the Atlanta office. The company engaged Salas O’Brien to provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design services for the new space. This project presented a unique challenge for our team to deliver a state-of-the-art, energy efficient, healthy environment within the constraints of the existing building.
Our solution
In order to achieve Newell’s ambitious sustainability goals for the new space, our team used light harvesting and variable speed controls for mechanical equipment in the design.
The results
The finished multi-floor design included corporate offices, meeting rooms, a fully functional commercial kitchen and cafeteria, fitness center, retail showroom, and product testing labs. Our sustainable design resulted in reduced lighting power density (14% better than code) and potable water use (39% better than code).
