Ensuring Peak Performance at National Monument
The Washington Monument, built to honor George Washington, needed a new visitor security screening facility as well as a renovated elevator. In 2019, the project team constructed the new facility and renovated the elevator, but before visitors could regain access to the monument, NPS needed to ensure its safety and function.
We provided commissioning of the new screening facility in compliance with all ASHRAE, NIBS, and LEED guidelines as well as NPS Sustainability Standards. We developed the plan; coordinated with contractors; performed pre-functional inspections; provided testing, adjusting, and balancing oversight; and participated in performance tests.
As a result of our commissioning services, the facility’s geothermal heat pump system, fire alarm systems, and lighting controls systems operate at peak performance, and the building operations team has easy access to relevant manuals.
