National Cancer Institute
Headquarter Renovations
Our client
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) coordinates the United States National Cancer Program, and is part of the National Institutes of Health. They are the federal government’s principal agency for cancer research and training. Their mission is to advance the body of scientific knowledge regarding cancer to help all people live longer, healthier lives.
Project highlights
The challenge
NCI needed to renovate their headquarters building to create new lounges, office spaces, and dining rooms as well as a new seminar room to serve as a broadcast and film studio, which called for unique lighting requirements. In addition, they needed all spaces to remain operable during the four phases of renovation construction.
Our solution
As the prime contractor, our team provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design and coordinated all requirements. We also worked closely with broadcasters and an audiovisual expert to ensure the seminar room and its technology would meet the challenge of ensuring picture quality.
The results
We coordinated the design requirements so that all areas of the NCI headquarters remained in operation throughout construction, including broadcast space, which allows NCI to share important updates with a widespread audience.
