110-Year-Old Space Renovated Into Boston’s Free Modern Art Museum

For decades, the Massachusetts College of Art and Design showcased contemporary art exhibitions, but the lack of air conditioning, restrooms, and elevators prevented guests from having an optimal experience. These issues spurred the college’s largest private fundraising campaign yet, engaging 424 donors to renovate the 110-year-old space.

When the college was ready to renovate the 8,000-square-foot space, our team provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design services. The two-story art galleries were brought up to current standards for archival quality climate and humidity control. Now, Bostonians can enjoy no-cost access to a treasured cultural and educational resource.
