MARTA
Brady Mobility Facility
Salas O’Brien performed mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design as well as fundamental commissioning for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Brady Mobility Facility.
Our client
As a major transportation hub for the Southeastern U.S., the city of Atlanta depends on the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) to help its millions of residents and visitors get where they need to go. This public transportation system includes a bus and rail network and is the ninth largest transit agency in the country.

Their challenge
MARTA engaged Salas O’Brien to perform the engineering design and LEED fundamental commissioning for MARTA’s new Brady Mobility Facility. This 78,200-square-foot facility is responsible for the administrative and maintenance needs of all of MARTA’s mobility vehicles, including a fleet of 200 buses, and as such it required complex and dynamic engineering solutions.
Our solution
We performed engineering design for the bus maintenance facility, operations offices, administration offices, and fueling/cleaning/washing building. Our LEED fundamental commissioning services included HVAC systems and electrical systems (lighting controls and emergency power generator). The building solely uses LED fixtures for its exterior and interior lighting and makes ample use of natural lighting indoors.
The results
As a result of our work, the facility now has twice as much space as before to meet Atlanta’s growing transportation needs. The new facility was also awarded LEED Silver Certification for its excellent energy efficiency.
