Louisiana State University
Football Operations Facility
In this project, Louisiana State University brought Salas O’Brien on board to take care of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design for an expansion to the football operations facility on their Baton Rouge campus.
Our client
Built in Baton Rouge on the banks of the Mississippi River, Louisiana State University (LSU) is a public university with a rich history and vibrant student life. The school began as a military academy, and while the customary blue and white military colors changed to Mardi-Gras-inspired purple and gold not long after the start of their athletic program, the teams’ spirit and discipline carries on to reflect their early heritage.

Their challenge
When the university decided to invest in the renovation and expansion of their Football Operations Facility, they turned to Salas O’Brien for engineering expertise to support the project’s success. The main focus of the project was the expansion of the facility’s weight room. This involved a 5,000-square-foot addition, division of the space into two levels, and new flooring and ceiling installations. The project also included the expansion and renovation of the team’s locker room, training room, and coaches’ offices.
Our solution
Our team provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for this renovation and expansion.
The results
The finished, state-of-the-art facility boasts both efficiency and sustainability. Its weight room now features additional exercise equipment, a five-zone directional speaker system, over 30 televisions, and design that reflects the university’s distinctive colors and mascot—Mike the Tiger.
