Parking Lots Transformed Into High-End Hotel & Office Complex
Across from Mountain View’s main transit center, this new construction project features a five-story Joie de Vivre hotel with a new restaurant, bar, and café. The rest of the development features a four-story office complex with 385 parking spaces in a subterranean parking garage.
Our team provided acoustic consulting services including room acoustics, noise and vibration control, sound isolation, and environmental noise testing.
Some of the challenges we found solutions for included: isolating train noise due to the proximity to the rail line; mitigating noisy exhaust fans for the parking garage; and providing sound isolation for the variety of mixed-use spaces.
To mitigate train noise, we reviewed options such as increasing glazing assemblies and resultant noise values in each of the hotel rooms. Solutions for the exhaust fans included extending ductwork to direct noise away from the opening of the parking garage to reduce the impact onto the sidewalk.
The building highlights a rooftop bar with performance platforms. To ensure guests were not affected by the noise, we recommended increased construction assemblies for adjacent guest rooms.
