Stadium Pedestrian Bridges and Tunnels Design

As the site of Super Bowl 54 in 2020, the Hard Rock Stadium needed to install new pedestrian bridges and tunnels to provide additional access to the stadium and surrounding parking lots by ticket holders. All tunnels, bridge spans, stairs, and switchback ramps required illumination to accommodate the pedestrian traffic.

Lighting systems design included pole-mount fixtures for stairs and ramps and surface-mount linear fixtures mounted to the ceilings of the bridge spans and tunnels. We designed emergency lighting via battery packs for inside the tunnels and handrail-mounted fixtures to illuminate the stairways. We also provided utility coordination and voltage drop calculations, load center equipment, and wiring details, as well as complete fault studies and arc flash analysis for four service points.

Our design allows pedestrians to avoid crossing busy streets and intersections, ensuring safe access for Hard Rock Stadium patrons. This project was completed on schedule before the big game.
