Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville, Georgia, prides itself on providing career-focused education for real-world jobs. With over 150 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs, Gwinnett is one of Georgia’s largest technical colleges, and it was one of the first technical colleges to receive accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

When the college decided to build a new Life Sciences Center, they turned to Salas O’Brien’s commissioning team to ensure the structure would be safe and compliant.
Our solution
Salas O’Brien performed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) complete commissioning services for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and laboratory systems in the new three-story education center.
The results
The completed Life Sciences Center achieved LEED Gold certification and has enabled an expansion of the school’s health science program offerings. The building includes specialized science and wet labs, general classrooms, large lecture halls, faculty offices, stock and equipment rooms, and common areas for students—all of which service the school’s nursing, medical assisting, bioscience, gerontology, and health and wellness programs.
