Designing a Sustainable and Structurally Sound Wellness Center

Our team assisted Gilead with structural design and consultation for their newly constructed Wellbeing Center devoted to the health and wellness of Gilead employees. The center has a gym, dedicated spaces for health services, and a juice bar. The building’s structural plan incorporates a cutting-edge seismic system to withstand severe earthquakes. Moreover, cantilevered hollow structural section posts provide additional structural support for the mechanical roof screen against out-of-plane wind loads. Other structural elements include a steel-framed floor and structural roof systems with concrete fill on a metal deck. Photovoltaics and radiant heating are also incorporated into the building to support sustainability objectives.
