Our client
This collaboration between North Carolina A&T State University and The University of North Carolina Greensboro was formed to transform intellectual properties into thriving businesses. This unique joint venture moves scientific discoveries from the lab to the market with the support, workspace, and equipment they need to succeed.
Project highlights
The challenge
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina Greensboro teamed up for a joint research venture and needed facilities to support world-class laboratories and office space for businesses, universities, and the local community for them to share resources for technical growth, discovery, and progress.
Our solution
The building we designed houses three research tenants: the US Department of Agriculture Data Research Center, Advaero, and the Joint School of Nanosciences and Nanoengineering. The USDA space includes a large data storage area served by a dry agent fire protection system, and the other spaces include labs and support spaces. We also designed a central boiler and chiller plant system to serve future facilities.
The results
Collocating these facilities not only provides updated space to increase efficiency and efficacy for five teams with 200 employees, it also allows for future expansion and growth.
