Department of Veterans Affairs
Building Information Model
The US Department of Veterans Affairs is a Cabinet-level agency that administers veterans benefits including disability compensation, vocational rehabilitation, education assistance, home loans, life insurance, and memorial benefits. They also provide near comprehensive healthcare services to eligible military veterans at VA medical centers and outpatient clinics nationwide.
The US Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration needed up-to-date as-built information for the C.W. Bill Young and West Palm Beach VA Medical Centers. They needed to manage the environment to prevent the spread of waterborne pathogens and to isolate and shut down systems quickly in case of emergency.
Our team provided on-site surveys and field investigations to develop plumbing and architectural Building Information Models (BIM). We also evaluated Legionella and other waterborne pathogens and developed communication and site-specific training plans for facility management staff members.
The Veterans Health Administration can now view the domestic water system independently from other plumbing so it can be managed for patient safety during facility management operations.
