Customized Approach for Public Safety Facility in Daytona Beach

Located on Florida’s Atlantic coastline, Daytona Beach Shores is one of only a few municipalities in the state whose police and fire safety departments are headquartered together as a combined public safety force. As such, their headquarters required state-of-the-art telecommunications equipment with customized engineering to ensure the facility was fit for purpose and would remain fail-safe during emergencies.

We designed their emergency power system, which included a fully enclosed diesel generator and automatic transfer system. We also designed their telecommunication system with specialized cooling and chemical protection for the facility’s IT room.

The mechanical system we designed included a 60-ton air-cooled chiller, chilled water variable air volume (VAV) air handling units, chilled water pumps, and VAV terminal units for zone control. The safety systems includes an apparatus bay vehicle exhaust and fume detection system as well as fire sprinkler systems throughout the complex.
