Relocation of Corporate Headquarters Creates Synergy and Cost Savings
Crunchyroll, a global giant in streaming anime content, wanted to create a new headquarters office by consolidating several offices into one location in a historic building in downtown San Francisco.
They wanted to provide a dramatic workplace that celebrates their brand and the many facets of Japanese culture while upgrading their workspace. We partnered with Muse, a firm specializing in set and industrial design, to bridge the gap between the conceptual and the constructible.
The design involved peeling back previous buildouts to celebrate the building’s substantial framework by showcasing structure ceilings, exposed concrete columns, and rough brick walls.
Visitors to the lobby are transported to central Tokyo and experience different aspects of Japanese culture on each floor. The outcome includes open office space for 350+ workstations, casual and traditional meeting spaces, a corporate board room, a workout facility with locker rooms, kitchenettes, and a recording studio. The new workspace reflects the company’s diverse culture, creates an updated, collaborative environment, and delivers a design that attracts and retains top talent.
