2000 Avenue of the Stars
Salas O’Brien’s team achieved commissioning excellence for this commercial project in Los Angeles, California. Our work helped the client improve sustainability and save more than $30,000 in change order costs.
With its sleek architecture and highly functional tenant spaces, 2000 Avenue of the Stars is a jewel at the heart of one of LA’s premier business districts, Century City. Built on the historic site of legendary 20th Century Fox’s original backlot studios, the state-of-the-art structure still maintains close ties to the film industry. The owner’s main tenant, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), is an international entertainment and sports agency that represents major talents from J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg to Derek Jeter, Tom Hanks, and Britney Spears.
2000 Avenue of the Stars’ developers needed a team who could commission mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection safety systems for this new building, and with the project’s scale and profile, they wanted a firm with an excellent track record in the commercial market. The project aimed to reduce costs by maximizing the sustainability and efficiency of MEP, smoke control, and redundant systems throughout the 12-story office structure and 8 levels of underground parking—inclusive of a 2,500-square-foot data center servicing CAA.
Our team took a comprehensive approach that covered each of the targeted systems, and in the process of our design-phase review, our engineers discovered an opportunity for efficiency-boosting corrections to the building’s stair pressurization system.
As a direct result of our commissioning work and design-phase review, the project owner saved $30,000 in change order costs. Our work ensured the safety and efficiency of the project’s targeted systems and maximized the client’s reputation for sustainability and environmental responsibility.
