Project highlights

Their challenge
Capital One engaged Salas O’Brien to provide engineering design services for a staged renovation and expansion to increase the footprint and functionality of their leased office space in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The project covered over 270,000 square feet across four separate phases, throughout which our team partnered with the project’s architect, BHDP Architecture, to achieve the client’s goals for the space.
Our solution
In Phase I, Salas O’Brien provided full design services for the interior build-out of two suites totaling 105,000 square feet. This covered an interior renovation of conventional office space as well as a 77,000-square-foot call center. New design elements introduced in this phase included redundant UPS support and a standby generator for key critical systems. Phase II expanded the Atrium Corporate Center to accommodate 600 additional professional associates. This expansion added 68,000 square feet. In Phase III, the scope of work included select demolition and renovation to optimize multi-purpose training and conference rooms and an employee health center which included reception, private offices, a nurse station, test lab, and exam rooms.
The results
The expanded, renovated Atrium Office achieved Green Globes certification, and with our engineering support, it now better accommodates Capital One’s growing employee base in the area.
