Buc-ee’s
Known for their scale and standard of excellence, Buc-ee’s stores are a stand out in their industry. Achieving this enviable reputation has taken partnership with companies who are equally passionate about excellence, and Salas O’Brien is no exception.
Our client
Founded in 1982 by Arch “Beaver” Aplin III and Don Wasek, Buc-ee’s is the Texas convenience store that lives up to the adage “everything’s bigger in Texas.” From the earliest days of the company, Aplin and Wasek were determined to create a new kind of convenience experience—one that consistently delivered on the promise of clean bathrooms, fully-stocked shelves, and welcoming (better paid) employees. This approach paid off, and Buc-ee’s has grown to include over 30 locations throughout Texas, with further expansion into Florida and Alabama planned for the future.
Project highlights

Their challenge
The Buc-ee’s brand in Texas needed an engineering partner they could rely on to deliver excellent engineering design solutions across the state. The stores combine a variety of functions including gas pumps, restrooms, grocery facilities, and (at many stores) car washes, and each of the stores requires faultless reliability to stay open 24/7.
Our solution
Salas O’Brien has provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for all of Buc-ee’s locations throughout Texas. This work included complete power and control wiring for the gas pumps and MEP for car washes.
The results
Our work for Buc-ee’s in Texas reinforces the brand’s commitment to quality and excellence and helps them stay functional and profitable 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
