Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
Salas O’Brien delivered multi-faceted engineering and technology design services for a new, Illinois-based corporate headquarters for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
Established in 1927, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. is the third largest insurance broker in the world. This company offers risk management and global retail commercial property and casualty insurance brokerage services to both domestic and international entities. They manage hundreds of locations in the United States, Australia, Canada, the Carribbean, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
This major insurance client needed a trustworthy partner that could provide technology and engineering design services to support the construction of this property. The property needed to match the significance and vast reach of the busy company it housed. For example, the new corporate headquarters would require a uniquely laid out and spacious design with sections for offices, executive and conference spaces, dining, back-of-house areas, event spaces, and much more. In addition, this building required modern technology and engineering design services to bring it up to par with surrounding buildings and businesses.
Our design work on this project began with having the existing 11-story office building gutted to the structural core and completely renovated. We then provided a design solution that featured executive office floors, a fitness center, an executive level, state-of-the-art conference and board rooms, built-out cooking and dining spaces, as well as back-of-house spaces. Then, to meet the unique needs of the company, our team’s design also included some special features such as a Network Operation Center (NOC) with 24/7/365 support, as well as a 2nd-floor outdoor terrace and event space. Our team finished off the new building by providing technology design services that enhanced A.J. Gallagher’s project productivity, including security, structured cabling infrastructure, Audio/Visual, closed-circuit television and alarm monitoring, and in-building cellular enhancement (DAS).
Our team’s project management, engineering design, and technology design services on this giant, LEED-certified headquarters building has empowered this business to continue its global reach around the world. The company headquarters now accommodates hundreds of employees, and their unprecedented growth has already necessitated an expansion of their new corporate campus with the construction of yet another adjacent building to house their growing number of employees.
