Salas O’Brien provided premium mechanical, electrical, and low voltage technology design services for a new office and service center building located on the edge of Chicago’s West Loop.

Their challenge
This international bank’s Service Center headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, required some major mechanical and electrical updates. As a part of Chicago’s most popular West Loop neighborhood, this fairly new building currently features a high-end brand and culture design, but our client needed a trusted partner to provide electrical, mechanical, and low voltage technology services that would finish bringing this building up to par.
Our solution
Salas O’Brien met this challenge by providing multi-faceted engineering and technology services that included replacing the support systems. Specifically, our team replaced a single module 750 KVA UPS with a 2+1 parallel-redundant 1500 KVA UPS system. We then supported this brand new system with three redundant 2,000 KW stand-by generators in a 2+1 configuration. To finish off this update for our client, our team expanded the HVAC systems to accommodate the Service Center’s increased cooling loads, and we implemented a programmed replacement of the older equipment.
The results
Our team’s work on this 40,000-square-foot Service Center made it truly state-of-the-art. Thanks to our team’s project design, this building now allows for continuous 24/7 operation, a capability that reflects the ABN AMRO high-end and fast-paced banking brand and culture.
