Salas O’Brien announced today that Global Engineering Solutions (GES) has joined the company, creating a combined firm of 33 offices with more than 800 team members, 180 registered professionals, and clients including the most significant companies, institutions, and government agencies in the United States.
GES and its affiliated office in the Washington, DC, region, represent Salas O’Brien’s first expansion to the Mid-Atlantic and add a team focused on delivering technical excellence in engineering, program management and construction management. Through combined experience and resources, the merger is expected to create opportunities to better serve GES clients in sectors including healthcare, science & technology, education, commercial, and more.
GES will continue to be managed locally by its current leaders and will adopt the Salas O’Brien name after a transition period. Although the transaction closed on February 4, 2020, and news of the merger was shared after the close with the GES and Salas O’Brien teams, both organizations agreed to hold the announcement until now due to the ongoing crisis surrounding COVID-19.
“The merger of Salas O’Brien and GES is a significant moment for both firms,” said Darin Anderson, Salas O’Brien chairman and CEO. “GES has an outstanding team and a reputation for serving clients with precision and creativity. Their longstanding service to government clients will greatly expand Salas O’Brien’s reach. But most importantly, the GES team will find a welcome home at Salas O’Brien because our culture, approach and vision for the future are so perfectly matched.”
GES joins Salas O’Brien as part of an ambitious plan to create the best engineering, facility planning and commissioning firm in the world—known for the highest-quality work and an outstanding reputation with its clients and team members. Salas O’Brien’s unique approach to mergers keeps local leadership in place while taking advantage of a unified brand, expanded service capabilities and nationwide collaboration.
“Salas O’Brien and Global Engineering Solutions have so much in common,” said Essi Najafi, GES Managing Principal. “The increased scale that Salas O’Brien offers will help us serve our clients better than ever, and our team will certainly benefit from almost limitless opportunities for growth while staying true to our roots and values. We’re thrilled to be joining the team.”
Ali Najafi, GES Principal Chairman, added, “This merger is so exciting for us and is the next logical step for our team and clients. We are continuing our legacy and reputation as thoughtful, technical leaders while strengthening our service capabilities across multiple sectors and creating many opportunities for our team members.”
Global Engineering Solutions of Washington DC continues to be independently owned and CBE certified with the District of Columbia and is also certified as a woman-owned small business.
