Salas O’Brien provided commissioning, indoor air quality testing and peer energy modeling services for the Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design. Situated beneath photovoltaic panels, it houses research labs, laboratory support areas, offices, and breakout spaces. With geothermal heat pumps, radiant heating and cooling, natural ventilation, and displacement ventilation, the building supports environmental education and research development.

Offering advanced energy modeling to assist with LEED certification for a new data center
Salas O’Brien partnered with Oppidan to deliver detailed LEED consulting and advanced energy modeling services aimed at achieving LEED BD+C v4 Certified status for a state-of-the-art data center. This ambitious project encompasses a modern, single-story structure covering 60,000 square feet and is strategically located in Des Moines, Iowa. The collaboration underscores a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

Transformation of a historic icon at the Atlanta Zoo
Salas O’Brien partnered with Zoo Atlanta for their historic transformation of Savanna Hall, creating a game-changing opportunity for the zoo. We designed the conversion of the historic Grant Park Cyclorama into a new 69,764-square-foot events destination facility with specialty kitchens. With Zoo Atlanta’s conservation mission in mind, sustainability was paramount to all aspects of the project. As a result, we designed Savanna Hall and Zambezi Elephant Center, the African elephant care quarters, to achieve LEED Gold certification.
