Case studies
Modernizing and expanding regional airport through updated system designs
Salas O’Brien is providing comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design engineering services to Asheville Regional Airport to support its major terminal modernization and expansion. The project will transform the airport from a 115,000 square feet, seven-gate facility into a nearly 275,000 square feet, twelve-gate terminal, featuring expanded concessions, ticketing, and security screening. Salas O’Brien is providing IT and telecommunications infrastructure design for a USACE facility. The facility had significant limitations, including security and safety vulnerabilities, and fragmented operations for over 1,550 employees across three separate buildings. Our team determined that a single production facility was the most economical and effective solution to consolidate operations and support all manufacturing needs for East Coast production.

Salas O’Brien delivered comprehensive engineering services for Firehouse #30, Charlotte’s first all-electric fire station. This innovative facility features three apparatus bays and two stories, supporting enhanced emergency response operations and accommodating the city’s first electric fire engine. Enhancing the experience of senior living through comprehensive design services
Salas O’Brien provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology engineering services for Glenaire Retirement Community’s expansion in North Carolina. Our team supported designing and coordinating a six-story apartment building and a 30,000 square-foot wellness center expansion. The wellness center featured a new two-story entryway with abundant natural light, sculptural lighting, a sports court connected to a walking track, and an expanded fitness space. Learn more.
