King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH)

Salas O’Brien provided fundamental and enhanced mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection commissioning services for the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) on the island of Bermuda.

Our team commissioned all mechanical systems, including the complete HVAC system, boilers, chillers, exhaust, outside air ventilation systems, building automation controls systems, dehumidification, steam distribution, and solar water heating. Electrical systems commissioned included occupancy sensors, computer controlled lighting, emergency lighting, and switched controls.

The finished hospital houses acute care, ambulatory systems, operating rooms, outpatient rooms, and doctor consultation areas. As the largest construction project endeavored on Bermuda, this effort required excellent communication between the design and construction team based in London, the Bermudian Government, and the Salas O’Brien team.
