Student Recreation Center

Located at the center of the Storrs campus, the Student Recreation Center, designed with input from students and staff, opened in time for the 2019 academic year. The new, state-of-the-art complex replaces the existing antiquated and inadequate recreation center. It features multiple recreation fields, cardiovascular and strength training activity spaces, squash and racquetball courts, five full-size basketball courts, a running track, and multipurpose sports areas.

Salas O’Brien provided engineering design for the facility, which offers various amenities, including an aquatics center with a 50-meter pool, sauna, and whirlpool; a wellness center; indoor and outdoor areas for club sports; and versatile and multipurpose spaces.

UConn’s new complex promotes campus wellbeing and student engagement, upholding its reputation for excellence in athletics and academics.

This facility is simply amazing. As with any good outcome, it’s the collective effort that influences the best result. From architects to engineers, the construction team to the recreation team, all contributed their expertise to this project.
