Switch Building

Salas O’Brien provided mechanical and electrical engineering, architecture and landscape design services, and DC power plant design for a new two-switch mobile switching center in Fairfield, California.

The Salas O’Brien team took a LEED approach for the building design and 100kW roof-mounted photovoltaic system. Our team used LEED elements throughout the project and obtained a Silver certification. The resulting 50,000-square-foot, single-story structure incorporates an internal structural steel frame and joist, deck roof structure with concrete topping, and concrete tilt-up exterior walls supported by deep foundation elements. This project also leaves available the option for expansion of a third switch.
